Band Update

Hey everyone, hope you all had a good week!

This week I wanted to give you guys a little insight into what the band and I have been up to. As many of you know, we released our first EP in November. This has been a very exciting process for us, and has inspired us to continue writing new music. Since the release, we have starting writing somewhere between 15 and 25 new songs in preparation for our next EP. We are always looking to improve on the foundation that we created with our first EP, and to do that we have performed a few smaller shows at Kitamu Coffee, Spacebar, and Tree Bar. Those have each been unique and beneficial experiences as well.

One way that I have personally started improving is by taking up online mentoring sessions with Mike Mains. If you have never heard of Mike, he is a musician out of Michigan whose latest album debuted at #15 in Billboard’s Top New Artist Albums Chart. He has a few songs on Radio U like “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright”, “Noises”, and “Miracles”. We meet every other Thursday and so far, and it has been an extremely beneficial experience. This past week we worked on some new songwriting tips and on Sunday Austin and I spent a good 4 hours implementing some of them. Continuing forward I hope to learn more and more from him that will help Ex-Nihilo progress.

Apart from that, our next show is Feb 10 with Graceful Closure, Come Wind, and Captain Kidd! I have been friends with Jared from Graceful Closure for a few years now but we have never had a good opportunity to play a show together. We are so excited to finally share the stage with them! We are trying to sell out this show, so if you have yet to get tickets comment on this post and we will be sure to get them to you.

Well, I think that is all for this week. If you haven’t already, please be sure to subscribe to this blog – it’s always cool to see who has been following this weekly! Peace!
